This invert was really crazy.

I made it almost in Ehukai (second peak at the right hand side of Pipeline) during the final of Pipeline 2007.

Another curious thing is that Ben Player told me again this year that the judges did not see this maneuver because they were looking at another wave on the heat..

He was sitting next to the judges and he confirmed that , it happens. But let's talk about the move..., :).

Again, speed.

Usually we already have the maneuver in mind when we are making the bottom turn and often we change the barrel for a more open bottom turn to make a bigger maneuver in full speed on the exit of the barrel.

On that wave i come with full speed and with the intention to do that invert..

The more you hit in a straight direction on the lip the better and beautiful will be this move..

Keep the posture until you hit the lip, hitting straight boost your weight and start to turn. As can be seen in the pictures I start to turn but the wave was heavy, forcing me to loose balance on the landing. I complete the maneuver but it was a difficult and painful landing. .

Always hold your board firmly and always believe in your own maneuvers, they will happen sooner or later.
